Medals

Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 22nd October, 1917, at ZONNEBEKE (east of YPRES) hostile shell fire ignited a number of Howitzer charges at the battery position. Gunner NEVILL at great personal risk and despite heavy shelling extinguished the fire thereby preventing the fire spreading to the adjacent ammunition. His coolness and pluck undoubtedly saved casualties to his comrades and the destruction of the ammunition and guns.'
