Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty from 28 to 31 August, 1918, near Clery-sur-Somme and Marrieres Wood. He repeatedly went in front of his company, firing his Lewis gun from the hip, twice destroying enemy machine gun nests. During a counter attack by the enemy, he crawled out with the gun and completely disorganized it.'
