Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at HERVILLY on 17th/18th September, 1918. Lance Corporal NICHOLLS worked continuously patrolling and mending lines under heavy shell fire, and by his excellent work enabled communication to be maintained throughout. He set a splendid example to his men.'
