Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty during a heavy bombardment of our trenches near GUEUDECOURT on the afternoon of 22nd February, 1917. Private NIELSON showed great gallantry in tending wounded and removing them to cover. Later he worked without respite until thoroughly exhausted carrying the wounded through heavy knee deep mud being all the time under shell fire.'
