Other details from Roll of Honour Circular | Born on board SS 'Garonne' in the Indian Ocean. Came to Australia at age 3 weeks. Served throughout the Boxer Rebellion with the NSW Light Infantry, embarking from Sydney on 7 August 1900. After the Rebellion he remained in China employed with the British Imperial Raliways. He tried to enlist for service abroad early in 1915 but was rejected. Came to Sydney especially to enlist in the AIF and was accepted. Both his foster brothers served in the AIF. |
