War service: Western Front Note, Red Cross File: 'No trace Germany. Cert. by Captain Mills. 14.10.19.' Statement, 3148 Pte F.H. EADDEN, C Company, 36th Bn (patient, Havre Hospital), 14 January 1918: 'We were attacking at Passcendaele on the 12th October. Noble was close by my side. A shell dropped close to us which never touched me but killed Corporal Noble by concussion, I think, as there were no wounds on him.' Second statement, 1878 Pte J.ISAACS, C Company, 36th Bn (patient, Bath War Hospital), 16 April 1918: 'The Lancashire Fusiliers covered the ground at Passchendaele Ridge after we (33rd Battn, A.I.F.) had retired from the ground, and came upon Noble's body and buried it at Passchendaele Ridge, late in Oct. or early in Nov.'
