Military Medal 'During the operations against the PASSCHAENDALE RIDGE on the night of 2nd October 1917, the 113th Howitzer Battery was in action East of WESTHOEK. No. 27764 Driver T.A.R. NOLAN with 2 other Drivers were packing ammunition to the forward position occupied by the Battery. When nearing the position they were caught in a heavy hostile area shoot and the other two Drivers were wounded, 4 of the horses being killed. This Driver bandaged the wounded under heavy fire and then after placing them in a recess near the gunpits went for assistance. Driver NOLAN showed complete disregard for his personal safety, and his action is deserving of special recognition.'
