Military Medal 'During the operations of 29th and 30th September and 1st October this N.C.O. was in command of a platoon and displayed an initiative and resource of an exceedingly high standard. His bearing and utter disregard of danger under intense artillery and machine gun fire set a splendid example to his men. At a critical stage of the operations he advanced with his platoon for a distance of over 500 yards in face of severe machine gun fire, established it in the line, and thereby filled a gap which existed on the flank, and materially contributed to the success of the operations. His conduct throughout the whole operation was grand, and was a source of inspiration to the men of the Battalion.'
