Military Medal 'During the operation East of YPRES on the morning of 4th October, 1917, Pte. NORRIS was with a gunist crew in the attack. His No. 1 and the remainder of the crew were casualties from the starting point, he gathered what gun gear was possible with a few of his carrying party and proceeded to take up position under orders from his Section Commander. He carried this out in such a manner that he got into position and was able to keep his gun in action till help arrived from the rest of the Section. Throughout the period in the line he showed great determination and devotion to duty being regardless of personal danger.'
