Military Medal 'This regimental stretcher bearer is brought to notice for his gallantry and devotion to duty during operations against VAIRE and HAMEL WOOD E. of CORBIE on the morning of the 4th July, 1918. He went over with the attacking waves of Infantry, and attended to many wounded men under machine gun and shell fire with a total disregard for his own personal safety. He subsequently made many carries, involving penetration through enemy barrage and machine gun sniping for the purpose of evacuating wounded men from VAIRE AND HAMEL WOODS and in front thereof, back to Regimental Aid Post. He is strongly recommended for distinction.' |
