Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry at Herleville Wood, 23 August, 1918. When his company was held up by machine gun fire from a strong hostile position, he dashed forward and bombed the next, killing two gun crews and silencing the third gun.'
Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 35 Date: Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack North of ROSIERES on the 9th August 1918. When the line was held up by very heavy machine gun fire and Private BEATHAM dashed forward to attack the guns, this soldier followed him and assisted in disposisng of two of the teams. He then turned one of the enemy machine guns on to a pockets of the enemy who were firing with rifles on out troops and knocked them out, killing or wounding all in the posts. He was conspicuous throughout the advance, showing a fine example of courage and devotion to duty.'
