Statement, Red Cross File No 2020801, 2885 Pte T.E. McLEAN, 59th Bn, 29 July 1916: 'I saw this man dead during the charge at Fleurbaix on July 19th. I saw him when I was on my way back after I was wounded. Several who were with me remarked how peaceful he looked. I think he must have been killed instantaneously. He was lying on No Man's land (sic) about 200 yards out of our trenches. He was lying by a hedge when I saw him.'
