War Service: Western Front Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal Enlisted in AIF, 14 February 1916; embarked for overseas service 1 July 1916. Disembarked, Devonport, 22 August 1916. Proceeded to France to reinforce 15th Battalion, 30 September; marched in to 4th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, France, 1 October 1916. Joined 15th Battalion in the field 16 October 1916. Admitted to 13th Field Ambulance, and transferred to 4th Field Ambulance, 17 July 1917 (trench fever); transferred to and admitted to Casualty Clearing Station, 18 July; Transferred to and admitted 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, 19 July; embarked for England per "St David" 27 July 1917, and admitted to Ontario Military Hospital, Orpington.
