'On the morning of the 6th September, 1918, to the North West of TINCOURT, No. 1221, Private HJALMAR NYMAN was advancing with his Platoon when he located an enemy machine gun and snipers post on the flank. He immediately got together the nearest Lewis Gun team, and, acting entirely on his own initiative, himself advanced with the team against the enemy, eventually causing their retirement, and inflicting heavy casualties on them. His prompt action on this occasion, saved many casualties amongst his Platoon. His coolness, courage, and absolute disregard of personal safety, set a fine example to the remainder of the men.'
