Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty near VILLERS BRETONEUX on 3rd May, 1918. Private BING was in charge of a post which was heavily shelled continuously and his unvarying coolness and resourcefulness undoubtedly saved many casualties among the garrison. When the position was very serious he volunteered to go through a terrific machine gun barrage and deliver a message. His coolness and bravery throughout were admirable and his work worthy of the highest commendation.'
