Red Cross File No 2040208 has statement from 362 Pte James WESTWOOD, 29th Bn (patient, 2nd Birmingham War Hosopital, England), 24 January 1917: 'Informant states that on the night of July 19-20 1916 at Fromelles he saw O'Donnell whom he know personally hit and afterwards saw his body lying there. He is quite sure from personal knowledge that O'Donnell was killed.'
