Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Hebuterue on 27th and 29th March 1918. When identification was urgently needed he went forward with an officer and assisted to capture an enemy sentry 'under the very nose of the enemy'. In the bombing attack on 29th March 1018 he showed exceptional dash and bravery acting as first thrower and though greatly handicapped in supply carried on with considerable success until he was badly wounded.'
