War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Killed in action, 29 May 1915. Buried at Victoria Gully, Grave No 4, 'about 0.5 mile S.E. of Anzac Cove' (Chaplain's report). Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal Base Records informed Mrs O'Neil, 14 April 1923, that his remains had been exhumed and finally interred in the Lone Pine Cemetery. 'This action was rendered necessary on account of the former site being exposed to torrential rain at certain seasons and in danger of obliteration by flooding.' |
