Other details

Disembarked Plymouth 13 January 1917. Marched in to 13th Training Battalion 10 January 1917. On 13 March 1917, he was charged with drunkeness, and awarded two days Field Punishment no.2. He proceeded overseas to France on 14 June 1917.

Awarded the Military Medal 14 October 1917.

On 23 March 1918 he was sent on leave to the UK, but was admitted to hospital sick while on leave, suffering influenza. He rejoined his unit on 6 April 1918.

Wounded in action 4 May 1918 (Shrapnel wounds to the back and chest), admitted to hospital.

Returned to Australia , leaving England on 6 November 1918.
