Military Medal 'For displaying great gallantry in the charge on MOUQUET FARM on the night of 29th/30th August, 1916, and for his fighting qualities in hand to hand fighting which took place with the enemy. When his Company retired he carried a wounded man with him and he was the last of his Company to leave.'
