FRANCE. For the period 8th August 1918 to 11th November 1918 'This soldier has performed his duties with great gallantry and devotion to duty. He has shown keenness in his work at all times, and his ability in surmounting obstacles which have arisen during the course of his duties has been most marked. On many occasions he has been called upon to do work under the most trying conditions and heavy shell fire, and his work on these occasions has been marked by his resourcefulness and disregard for his personal safety.'
