Military Medal 'During the operations east of YPRES on 4th October 1917, he was employed on the construction of a Strong Point on BECELAERE RIDGE. He successfully completed a Machine Gun position under direct observation and spite of very heavy shelling. Later in the afternoon his position came under extremely heavy fire, 50% of his party became casualties but he carried on and successfully completed the work.'
