Distinguished Conduct Medal 'During the period from 16-17 September, 1918, to the cessation of hostilities, he has shown consistent courage and determination to accomplish any task allotted to him. On 17 October, whilst his battalion was in action west of St Souplet, an enemy shell killed one gunner and wounded others of his detachment. Although himself wounded, he, with another man, maintained the gun in action.'.
