Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack west and north of BRAY on the morning of the 22nd August, 1918, this soldier was No. 1 of a gun team and was badly wounded in the arm. Notwithstanding the severity of his wounds, and the fact that the position was subjected to a heavy enemy barrage, he remained at his post until the completion of his task, thereby setting a fine example of endurance and fortitude to all in the vicinity.'
