Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack west of Bellenglise on 18 September, 1918. He was fired on from a strong enemy position, but rushed it with a few men. He reached the position first, and 24 of the enemy surrendered to him. He set his platoon a splendid example during the whole advance, and rendered valuable service.'
