Military Medal 'At PLOEGSTEERT on the night 28th/29th May, 1917, on the occasion of a raid on the enemy trenches by his Battalion, he acted as runner between the point of assembly in No Man's Land and the enemy's lines. Several times he passed through an intense barrage put down by the enemy on his own front line, and returned with information from the enemy support lines. He was of great assistance to our wounded, directing them back to our lines. During an enemy raid some time previously on our lines at ST. YVES he carried important despatches from his Company Headquarters through a very heavy barrage, showing a total disregard for danger. This man also did good work during a raid on the enemy trenches in the BOIS GRENIER Sector.'
