War service: Western Front Parents William and Alice PAGE twice lodged objections (13 November 1916; 9 January 1917) to his leaving Australia for service overseas until he reached the age of 19. Embarked Sydney, 10 May 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 20 July 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 14 November 1917; taken on strength, 30 Bn, in the field, 29 November 1917. Admitted to hospital, 26 February 1918 (trench fever); rejoined unit in the field, 17 May 1918. Granted leave with pay and subs (Non-Military Employment), 6 April-6 June 1919: carriage and motor painting.
