War service: Rabaul. Promoted Corporal, Rabaul, 22 February 1915. To draw extra duty pay of 2/- per whilst employed at the bakery, 5 July 1915. Proceeded to Australia on furlough, 6 December 1915; return to Rabaul, 14 March 1916. Found guilty, 23 May 1916, of whilst on active service, (1) conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline; (2) being drunk: fined two pound. Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Marsina', 1 January 1917. Admitted to No 7 Australian General Hospital, 27 January 1917 (pulmonary tuberculosis); transferred to No 17 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, 31 January 1917. Discharged Adelaide (medically unfit), 15 August 1917. Total war service: 2 years 289 days (of which 1 year 354 days was abroad). Medal: British War Medal. |
