War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Joined 7th Bn, Gallipoli, 8 May 1915. Wounded in action, Lone Pine, 8-9 August 1915 (bomb wound, shoulder, thigh and trunk), and admitted to 8th Field Ambulance; transferred to St David's Hospital, Malta, 14 August 1915; to Ghain Tuffeha, 13 September 1915; to Alexandria, 26 September 1915. Embarked Alexandria, 22 October 1915; rejoined Bn, Gallipoli, 29 November 1915. Admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance, Mudros, 23 December 1915 (diptheria), and transferred same day to 3rd Australian General Hospital (laryngitis); discharged to Base, 4 January 1916; rejoined Bn, Tel el Kebir, 11 January 1916. Transferred to and taken on strength of 59th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 24 February 1916. Appointed Lance Corporal, Hog's Back, 9 May 1916. .
