'Sergeant PARKER-LAYOCK has been with the Battalion since its inception, and has shown consistent good work and devotion to duty. He is an excellent N.C.O. on patrol and invariably obtains accurate and very valuable information. He has set a fine example to all ranks especially during the YPRES offensive in September/October, 1917, by his unfailing cheerfulness and courage and is deserving of special recognition.'
