Wounded in action, 28 March 1918 (gun shot wound, head), and admitted to 56th Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 22nd General Hospital, Camiers, 29 March 1918; to England, 4 April 1918, and admitted same day to Central Military Hospital, Eastbourne; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 19 April 1918; discharged on furlough, 24 April 1918, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 8 May 1918.

Marched in to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 31 May 1918; marched in to 12th Training Bn, Codford, 17 June 1918.

Proceeded overseas to France, 15 August 1918; rejoined 48th Bn, in the field, 28 August 1918.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 19 September 1918 (gun shot wound, chest); admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, 20 September 1918; transferred to 12th Casualty Clearing Station, 21 September 1918; to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, 24 September 1918; to England, 24 September 1918, and admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham (Stourbridge Section), 26 September 1918. Discharged on furlough, 11 December 1918, to report to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 27 December 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Nevasa', 5 March 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 18 April 1919; discharged, Adelaide, 3 June 1919.
