'At MONT ST. QUENTIN near PERONNE on the 1st September, 1918 this man displayed great courage. He made several trips over ground swept by Machine Gun fire carrying messages and guiding up supplied of Trench Mortar ammunition. He was of great assistance to a gun crew, lying out in the open, although in a most exposed position, observing and giving corrections to the gun crews. Later in the day PARKINS rendered valuable service to his Officer in firing a captured Minenwerfer. His personal disregard of danger and cool work was of great assistance in silencing enemy machine guns.'
