Military Medal 'At WESTHOEK RIDGE 20th September 1917. After the capture of the objective, he volunteered as a stretcher bearer to bring in the wounded, and continued carrying continuously for thirty hours. He did not cease in this work despite a heavy enemy barrage, until thoroughly exhausted. He was a fine example of splendid coolness and courage, and unceasing devotion to duty.'
