Admitted to 15th Field Ambulance, 25 March 1916 (pyrexia); rejoined 59th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 27 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. Posted missing, 19 July 1916. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 29 August 1917, pronounced fate as 'Killed in Action, 19 July 1916'. Handwritten note on Form B103: 'Presume to be Buried In No Man's Land approx 5J90 43 to 5K02.5.1 Sheet Hazebrouck 5A'. Statement, Red Cross File No 2090906, 3899 Pte R.L. PRYOR, 50th Bn (patient, War Hospital, Huddersfield, England), 10 October 1916: 'Informant states that on Jul7 19th 1916 at Fleurbaix in the advance outside No Man's Land, Parry crossed right in front of him and fell suddenly as if killed instantaneously, but Informant had not time to stop. This was close to our parapet and in the afternoon.' Second statement, Lt BINDER, 59th Bn (patient, Moreton Gardens Hospital, London, England), 23 October 1916: 'Informant states that on July 18th 1916 South of Armentieres we made an attack just before dark. I was hit in the early morning of 19th July and [2706] Private [W.D.] Lowery, one of the stretcher-bearers said to me "I have just been tying up poor Parry, and I think he is done for."'
