Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When the last officer of his company had become a casualty he took command at a crtical moment during a counter-attack and acted with great coolness and decision, which resulted in the repulse of the enemy and capture of several prisoners. He was himself severely wounded.'
