'During the operations at POZIERES, FRANCE, 21st. July to 6th. August 1916, Gunner PARRY displayed great courage and skill on many occasions in connection with the forward work of the battery, both in maintaining communication under very heavy fire and acting as runner when the lines got beyond repair. The forward observing station was practically always under heavy fire. The laying and maintaining of lines to this station was of great importance and was a very dangerous job. Gunner PARRY carried out his duties in a most excellent manner displaying great courage and devotion tu duty.'
