Meritorious Service Medal

'For gallantry and consistent devotion to duty, as Company Quartermaster Sergeant, he has rendered valuable assistance from the 17th September, 1918, to the 31st December, 1918. In this period he has, at all times, under fire, supervised the issuing of rations to this Company, in the front line, going forward nightly with rations and hot meals, many times under very heavy artillery fire. He has proved a great asset to the Battalion, and this N.C.O.'s work cannot be too highly estimated.'
