'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In the advance this N.C.O. in command of a platton, pushed his Lewis gun forward to a commanding position, and under cover of is fire made good his attack. Later, he crept forward with two men throught a wood, capturing two men and a machine gun and killing two. His leading and control of his platoon were admirable.
