Embarked Fremantle onboard HMAT 'Katuna', 28 November 1915; disembarked Suez, ex-HMAT 'Geelong', 18 December 1915.

Promoted to Second Lieutenant, Tel el Kebir, 13 March 1916.

Admitted to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, Ferry Post, 30 March 1916 (inoculation sickness); discharged to duty, 4 April 1916; rejoined 32nd Bn, Ferry Post, 6 April 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916.

Wounded in action, 20 July 1916, and placed on Seconded List.

Now, 28 July 1916, reported as 'Wounded and Missing, 20 July 1916'.

Struck off strength of 32nd Bn, 3 November 1916.
