Military Cross

'On the nights of 4th-5th October 1918, at Joncourt the report centre through which the brigade communications had to be established was moved to an unknown location, the route to which was subjected to a continued harassing fire with high explosives and gas. He volunteered and after two hours under constant shell fire and bombing succeeded in finding the report centre thus putting the brigade in direct touch with its group and the infantry. His work was of the greatest value under the circumstances and he showed marked gallantry carrying it out.'
