'Near YPRES on 4/5th October 1917, Cpl. PEACH displayed conspicuous courage and initiative. On his Platoon Commander becoming a casualty this N.C.O. took charge and handled his men under heavy fire with great skill. He materially assisted his Company Commander in reorganising behind the objective and when the first objective was reached he rendered invaluable assistance in the reorganisation and consolidation of thre position. His personnel courage under heavy shell fire was an inspiring example to his men.'
