Military Medal 'During attack operations near WESTHOEK east of YPRES on 20th September, 1917, Sapper PEACOCK was one of a sapper wiring party detailed to construct a strong point in the second objective. Owing to the non arrival of a portion of the wiring stores, the wiring was in danger of not being completed. In face of exceedingly heavy enemy shelling of that area, Sapper PEACOCK showed great coolness, resource and energy in salvaging wire and pickets from old enemy wiring, and carrying them on to the job. This action enabled the wiring to be successfully completed.'
