Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations in the Jordan Valley on the 2 April to 8 May, 1918. On more than one occasion he gave his company commander very able assistance in connexion with dangerous reconnaissance of enemy territory in the vicinity of his post in Wadi Mellahah. His conduct throughout was most exemplary and praiseworthy.'
