After his return to Australia he worked as a tram conductor and then driver until his retirement. Served abroad one year 119 days. Re-enlisted in the 2nd World War and served in the Garrison Battalion, Beacon Hill and Brookvale in Sydney. Transferred to the look-out post at Bridie Island, Queensland.
