'For conspicuous gallantry and marked devotion to duty during the recent operations at PASSCHENDAELE RIDGE, East of YPRES. In an attack on a post occupied by the enemy, Corporal PEDLEY showed fine leadership and handled his men with great skill and coolness. During the operation he was wounded but carried on with his men until the post was captured. The fortitude of this N.C.O., and his leadership, were in a large measure responsible for the success of the operation.'
