BRIDGES, 60th Bn (patient, Bethnal Green Military Hospital, London, England), 28 November 1916: 'On July 19th on the Fromelles Front we went over at a quarter to seven p.m. and I saw Pemberton killed 50 yards in front of our trenches. I saw him three hours later on returning. He was cold and quite dead.'
