Proceeded overseas to France, 21 November 1916.

Wounded in action, 8 June 1917 (shell shock). Transferred to England, 10 July 1917, and admitted to 4th London General Hospital, 10 july 1917; transferred to 2nd London General Hospital, 20 July 1917. Granted furlough, 29 August 1917, to report to Training Depot, Codford, 12 September 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Port Darwin', 11 January 1918 (general nervous debility).
