Military Medal 'On the morning of the 6th September, 1918, on the slopes to the North West of TINCOURT, No. 1232, Lance Sergeant PENNIMENT showed great gallantry and devotion to duty. Under heavy Machine Gun fire, he advanced across the open, allowing a Lewis Gunner to use his shoulder as a rest for his Lewis Gun, in order to cover the advance, and get his men forward. Throughout the operations, he did exceptionally fine work in mopping up enemy Machine Gun posts and it is greatly due to his coolness, and courageous conduct under most trying circumstances - which set a fine example to the men under him, that the advance was successfully continued.'
