Williams, who was married to a British soldier, Leopold GAROSS, was subsequently charged with and sentenced for bigamy. When Gaross returned from leave, he asked her to choose between him and Peut; she chose Peut.

Tried by District Court Martial, Sutton Veny, 9 April 1918, on charge of being absent without leave from 20 November 1917 until apprehended at Spitalfields, 28 March 1918; pleaded 'Not Guilty'; found 'Guilty': awarded 10 months' imprisonment; sentence confirmed, but four months remitted; total forfeiture of pay: 313 days.

Marched out to Lewes Detention Barracks, 26 April 1918.

Discharged from Lewes Detention Barracks to 3rd Eastern General Hospital, Brighton, 1 July 1918.

Admitted to Lewes Detention Barracks from hospital, 23 July 1918.
