Military Medal 'On the night of 27th March, 1917, the casualties in this manUs Company were heavy so that the stretcher bearers were hardly able to cope with the difficult work. The Battalion had been taking part in the work of the advanced guard and had advanced beyond LAGNICOURT, a long way from the nearest Aid Post. Lance Corporal PERKINS took charge of the work and gained the admiration of all by the fearless and untiring work he did, collecting and dressing wounded and supervising their evacuation, all the time under fire. At length the dugout at Company Headquarters was blown in by a shell and even then he continued his labours, digging away the debris and getting out the wounded and ministering to their needs. This manUs work inspired his comrades with confidence.'
